Balm In Gilead

The Balm In Gilead, Inc., a faith-based non-profit organization, is set to host its annual Healthy Churches 2030 Virtual Conference from November 13-16, 2024. This initiative aims to address the persistent health disparities affecting the Black community in the United States.

The conference, now in its 13th year, brings together faith leaders, public health professionals, and community advocates to discuss strategies for improving health outcomes in Black communities. This year’s theme, “Empowering Faith Communities to Build a Culture of Health Equity,” underscores the organization’s commitment to leveraging the influence of faith institutions in promoting health and wellness.

Participants will engage in over 30 workshops covering various health topics, including diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, HIV/AIDS, and mental health. The conference will also feature plenary sessions with renowned speakers from the fields of public health, medicine, and faith leadership.

A key focus of the event is to equip faith leaders with the knowledge and resources needed to implement health ministries within their congregations. These ministries are designed to provide education, screening, and support for various health issues disproportionately affecting Black Americans.

The virtual format of the conference ensures accessibility for participants across the country, allowing for broader engagement and knowledge sharing. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, The Balm In Gilead aims to create a collaborative platform for developing innovative solutions to long-standing health challenges in the Black community.

Through this initiative, The Balm In Gilead continues its mission of empowering faith communities to play a crucial role in addressing health disparities and promoting overall well-being among Black Americans.
