The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) has unveiled a new online resource aimed at addressing health disparities and improving minority health. The HD Pulse Interventions Portal, launched on August 21, 2024, is designed to provide easy access to evidence-based interventions that can be implemented by researchers, healthcare providers, and community groups.
The portal serves as a repository of proven interventions, allowing users to make informed, actionable decisions about appropriate interventions for specific populations in their communities. It includes interventions tested on various groups, such as sexual and gender minorities, people with disabilities, and specific racial and ethnic minority groups. The portal also categorizes interventions based on the diseases they target, including cardiovascular diseases, mental and behavioral disorders, and various cancers.
Users can search, filter, and compare interventions based on factors like the geographical area where the intervention was tested and the location where it is intended to be delivered. Each intervention entry includes supporting materials such as publications, outreach efforts, participant education tools, and contact information for the developers.
NIMHD Director Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable, M.D., emphasized the portal’s role in advancing the institute’s mission, stating, “Communities across the country are seeking ways to improve health outcomes from cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other conditions, and this portal can be a helpful resource to support their efforts.”
Researchers are encouraged to submit their interventions for inclusion in the portal, provided they meet eligibility requirements, such as demonstrating real-world positive outcomes and having a scientifically established study design.
