Southern Nevada Health District

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has launched an innovative initiative to address health disparities in COVID-19 testing among underserved populations. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations and Rural Communities, this program aims to improve access to COVID-19 testing through the strategic placement of vending machines.

These vending machines, located across Clark County, provide free COVID-19 antigen test kits to residents in medically underserved and rural areas. The initiative addresses significant challenges faced by these communities in accessing healthcare services, particularly COVID-19 testing. By placing six vending machines in key locations, SNHD is working to ensure that residents have convenient and equitable access to essential health resources.

The vending machines are part of a broader effort to reduce health disparities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative not only increases testing accessibility but also aims to mitigate the spread of the virus in vulnerable communities. The program highlights the importance of innovative solutions in public health to bridge gaps in healthcare access and equity.
